Season Schedule
The season consists of two “halves”, Fall and Spring. The Fall season runs the September through the first week of November. We return to the same teams in April and play through mid-June. Each season consists of 8 games, held at Jackson Park (near 63rd St and Lake Shore Drive).
Game times are on the hour between 9a and 12p. Specific team schedules will be posted on the website before the season starts.
Fees
The fee is $185 with a discount for siblings at $175. This cost includes 16 games (fall and spring), weekly training sessions, a uniform, a basic photo package and a trophy at the end of the year. AYSO registered players are also covered with player insurance.
Registration Process
All players must register online, through the regional website. After completing the parent and player questions, you must print and return 2 copies of the registration form in person. Parents also need to complete a volunteer application to sign up for the role they selected during the player registration.
We will post to the website the dates/times for Form Turn-In so you can complete the registration. After the region receives printed and signed forms and payment, we make team assignments and a coach will contact you in mid-August.
Team Formation
After you complete the online registration, we make team assignments. Teams are by age division based on the player’s age as of August 1 (Note: for U4 and U5 the birthday cutoff is the start date of the new season.)
For girls we have the following divisions, where “U” stands for Under: U4 Playground, U5G, U6G, U8G, U10G and U12/14G. For boys we have U4 Playground, U5, U6, U7, U8, U10 and U12/14.
AYSO believes in the benefits of “short-sided” play, where for each age division we intentionally adjust the roster sizes and the number of players on the field to less than the standard 11 v 11, until children reach our oldest age division. This allows players to develop skills progressively.
Training Sessions
Team coaches will lead players in weekly training sessions, in addition to the weekly game. The Under 5 players have a training session on Saturday morning for 30 minutes before the 30-minute match. U6 teams train one day a week for 45-60 minutes and U8 and older teams practice twice a week.
The practice fields (for all but U5) are on the Midway Plaisance (59th St) between Kimbark and Blackstone. Practice times depend on the coach's availability and what works best for the squad.
Everyone Volunteers
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) brings families together through soccer in nearly 1,000 local leagues. At the regional level, the program is all volunteer run. The important adults in our players’ lives contribute to the program as coaches, referees, field set-up assistants or event coordinators. You and your child will enjoy the sport together. The national resources provide the training and structure to make your volunteer efforts successful and enjoyable. We also require adults to complete a volunteer application. The national headquarters conducts background checks so that all our children can play in a safe environment.
