AYSO National Coaching Program
In order of importance, AYSO Coaches and Assistant Coaches use Positive Coaching to help players:
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship towards all,
• Develop individual and team soccer skills, and
• Compete to win!
AYSO’s coaching program features an innovative, age–appropriate curriculum, including in-person and online courses, interactive manuals, weekly training plans and online video demonstration content. In addition to division-specific training, Coaches and Assistant Coaches complete annual background checks and maintain current certifications in a) AYSO Safe Haven, b) SafeSport, and c) CDC Concussion Awareness
Benefits of AYSO's Coach Training
- Our youth players deserve well-trained coaches.
- Training makes the coach ‘job” easier. Even those folks who know soccer may not know how to teach soccer to young children and everyone has a better experience when coaches know what they're doing!
- Training provides more information about AYSO's recreational team program and how coaches can use age appropriate techniques to encourage a love of soccer while also guiding skill development.
- Training provides coaches access to tips and training plans to help the season be as productive and successful (and fun!) as possible.
